Abstract

Experiments were performed to study the action of phytohormones on shoot formotion from endosperm, embryo and endosperm, embryo and in vitro-formed leaf cultures of Dendrophthoe falcata L.f.) Ettings. The explants (endosperm, embryo and in vitro-formed leaves) were implanted on white's modified medium (WM) supplemented with various auxins (IAA, IBA, NAA, 2,4-D), cytokinins (6-furfurylaminopurine, 6-benzylaminopurine, adenine) and casein hydrolysate (CH) at various concentrations. Cytokinins induced bud formations from the explants that develop into shoot in presence of cytokinins. Without cytokinins, there was no bud differentiation. Shoots formation were similar in morphology but the triploid shoot was slightly bigger. The cytology of the cells, however remained unchanged.
