The effect of monochromatic lights - red and blue have been studied on the cultures of Eutetramorus planctonicus (Korch.) Bourr. against white and dark with reference to the growth, morphological variation and pigment formation. Maximum growth was observed under white light. Red light favoured the growth while blue retarded it. Red light influenced cell division while blue light affected cell dimensions. Both the processes were well balanced under white light and were totally suppressed under total darkness. Blue light had an edge over red in the production of Chl. b pigment.
