Abstract

By using the JENDL – HE library we can build calculation models of homogeneous and screening effects. We can use these models to calculate the neutron number produced by (p, n) reaction at different angles. These models can be applied to some thick target nuclei composed 241Am, 238U, 237Np, 206Pb, 197Au, 186W with proton beam energy from 0.5 GeV to 3.0 GeV. We obtained a data set of the number of neutrons generated at different angles from 0 degree to 180 degrees. These parameters can be used for designing the Accelerator Driven System (ADS). The study is to be elaborated with results and conclusion.

Furthermore, the properties of neutron, generated by (p, n) reaction on heavy targets also reveal more information on the mechanism of (p, n) reactions. These reactions call for a reexamination of this energy region – especially since the region has not been studied for a long time.
