Biodiesel is an alternative fuel for diesel engine. In the present study neem oil and rice bran oil were chosen for investigation. Estimation of total acid number and methanol molar ratio indicated a concordant value of 1:1, 1:3 for rice bran and neem oil. Determination of biodiesel production for rice bran oil was found to be 74.3% and neem oil revealed 95.4%. The acid value was rice bran oil was found be 0.07 mg KOH /g and the acid value of neem oil was found to be 0.09 mg KOH /g. Optimization of experimental parameters such as molar ratio, catalyst type, catalyst concentration, reaction temperature revealed that rice bran oil treated in 1:1 ratio exhibited and S/N ratio of 26.1.Optimization of neem oil with 1:10 ratio revealed S/N ratio 32.28. FTIR study and HPLC analysis for biodiesel production in rice bran and neem oil.
