Abstract

Background: Clinical laboratories must simplify the report release procedure in order to meet the difficulties of less staff and shorter turnaround times. In the clinical chemistry laboratory, this can be accomplished by implementing an autoverification system.

Aim and Objectives:

To know the proportion of tests or the sample load which is autoverifiable
To determine the delta check for the tests done.
To compare advantages and disadvantages of autoverification.
Materials and Methods: A descriptive observational study was conducted on samples in Clinical Chemistry laboratory of S.S.G Hospital & Medical College Vadodara, from 15th April to 15th July 2016. At the end of the day, all reports were analysed, and the autoverifiable reports were determined along with their percentage.

Results and Observations: For various parameters, the percentage of autoverifiable reports in our laboratory ranged from 71% to 89 percent. (%)

Conclusion: Although Autoverification is a difficult undertaking, the final outcome is well worth the effort. When properly integrated into a laboratory information system, autoverification is far faster than manual verification performed by expert laboratory medical biochemists. Because all test results go through the same process before being issued, autoverification not only reduces turnaround time but also leads to more consistent verification of test results.
